Home honored with Telly Award

June 2, 2021

The Telly Awards, the world’s largest honor for video and television content across all screens, has announced this year’s winners, including Chapter Two of Home: The Homelessness Crisis in North Dakota. It is the fourth award for the episode, which had been recognized earlier in the summer with awards from the Los Angeles Film Awards, the Montreal Independent Film Festival, and The New York Film Awards.

Chapter Two of Home: The Homelessness Crisis in North Dakota explores North Dakota’s “bootstrap” mentality, deadly winter weather systems, and the impact of the oil boom in the western half of the state.

The episode features the lived experience of Troy Pryor, and features homeless advocates from around the state, including Pastor Barb Becker, Glory of the Lord Ministries, Watford City; Kate Brovold, Austin’s Mission, Bismarck; Jenna Gullo, Missouri Slope Areawide United Way, Bismarck; Louis McLeod, Minot Area Homeless Coalition, Minot; and Sue Shriek, Northlands Rescue Mission, Grand Forks.

The multi-part series is presented by the Consensus Council, the Fargo Moorhead Coalition to End Homelessness, and the Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People; and made possible by Bell Bank, Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Family Health Care, and the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition.
