Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots

Honoring Stonewall

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the North Dakota Human Rights Arts Festival are commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ community against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.

They are widely considered to constitute the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in the United States.

All mediums of 2D, 3D, Written and Live Performance artists with works relating to the Stonewall Riots or LGBTQ themes are invited to submit their work to the festival. Entries must be received electronically by midnight Friday, May 31, 2019, to be considered for the festival.
