The Fargo-Moorhead LGBT Film Festival is excited to announce the 2021 Audience Choice Award Winner: A Love Letter to Black Male Femininity.
Directed by Penuel “Blue” Nawa, A Love Letter to Black Male Femininity is an exploration of gender expression in Black men, and a love letter to the corners of the Black community that have made that exploration possible. A multimedia combination of poetry, film, fashion, music, and visual art to illustrate the multifaceted beauty of the intersection at Blackness and Queerness.
The Audience Choice Award is determined by votes cast by attendees of the festival. 2021 is the second year of the award. The film was also admired by the festival’s programming team, with a Jurist writing, “There were some really striking and beautiful visuals throughout the film that complemented the poetry of the letters being narrated. This was a really wonderful exploration of gender identity, and the very explicit support for black women gave me chills.”
The 13th annual Fargo-Moorhead LGBT Film Festival took place September 15-18, 2021. Due to ongoing pandemic concerns, the festival moved online for a second year.
